I don’t get many calls on my home phone from anyone save for telemarketers. Most of the time I get a prerecorded message that requests me to hit a button at the end of the spiel so that I can talk to a real live person. I have yet to actually hit that button but I think that in the near future I will. I talk to them not because I’m interested in their goods or services but because I want to waste their time like they waste mine. Tonight, a man named Alvin called wanting to sell me satellite TV (I presume). He asked me numerous questions about how many TV’s I have, the number of channels available, and the price of the service. When I told him all of the details, some of which I exaggerated slightly, he decided to end the call.
Seconds after I hung up the phone I realized the line I should have played… his name was Alvin. I should have asked him about his two brothers. You can imagine where that conversation would have gone.
There is a next time and I’ll take care of it sooner or later.
